Facilities

The students and staff at Lilydale Adventist Academy enjoy a range of state of the art facilities to support learning and teaching.  The following facilities have been recently installed or are under periodic review to keep them functional and current:

Library Resource Centre
Opened in 2007, this spacious learning centre boasts a generous range of literature and digital resources  as well as a 50 seat theatrette. (click on link to view picture)

Science Centre
Refurbished in 2000, the Science Centre includes 3 generous sized laboratories, dedicated computer lab and preparation room.  Attached to the building is a hot house where hydroponics is taught and seedlings for the year 7 and 8 gardening program are grown.

Music Studio
The music department includes a specialist area comprising tuition and practice rooms and recording capability.

Art and Technology Centre
Refurbished in 2007, the Art and Technology Centre comprise 2 distinct specialty areas:
Visual Arts – Art Studio, film processing dark room, pottery workshop, kiln room and Digital Design room.
Design & Technology – Spacious workshop with separate machine room, full dust extraction technology, industrial spray booth, metal processes workshop and Digital Design room.

Sport and Physical Education
The LAA Sports Centre caterings for a large range of sports options.  Included within the Sports Centre are 3 squash courts, provision for basket ball, indoor soccer and tennis and cricket, netball, volleyball and a range of other ball sports.  Additionally, there are 2 outdoor tennis courts.

Outdoor Education
The Outdoor Education program includes the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and VET Outdoor Education classes for Years 10-12.  The Academy has a range of excellent equipment and facilities to support this program including: mountain bikes, canoes, kayaks, expedition equipment, abseiling equipment and general camping supplies.  In 2007 a new bus was purchased for the Outdoor Education Program.

Home Economics
The Home Economics department includes 2 well appointed areas where Food Technology and Textiles are taught

General classrooms
Students are accommodated in a comfortable learning environment.  For example, all learning areas are fitted with air conditioning and data projectors.

ICT
There are six ICT rooms throughout the Academy.  Currently there is one computer available for every two students.  Interactive white boards are used for teaching and learning in a number of classrooms and across subject areas.

Playing Fields
The Academy boasts a full size sporting field that includes cricket practice nets, long jump pit, cricket pitch and soccer and AFL areas.

Cafeteria
An inside Cafeteria service is provided to students during recess and lunch.  A generous menu is offered and students are invited to sit at a table to eat their lunch or just socialise. The Cafeteria is opened 5 days per week.

Uniform Shop
LAA believes that students wear their school uniform with pride and parents are requested to fully support the Academy’s Uniform Policy.
As a service to school families LAA operates a uniform shop in Academy House located at the entrance to the campus.

The uniform shop carries a full range of uniform items for school families. Uniform shop hours are:

Mondays      8.15 am to 9.15 am
                   3.30 pm to 4.00 pm

Tuesdays     8.30 am to 9.00 am

and by appointment for outside these times.
